Acer palmatum ‘Twombley’s Red Sentinel’

Twombley’s Red Sentinel

Leaf Colour(s):

Red

Habit:

Upright

Preferred Soil:

Well drained neutral/acid

A great introduction, discovered as a witches broom on a ‘Bloodgood’. More vigorous than most witches broom, quickly develops the upright columnar habit, for which it is famous, but will widen with age. New growth crimson red then darkens to burgundy, the new growth being light red gives an almost two toned effect most of the year. Holds it’s colour well even in sun, in autumn a spectacular red.
