The tiny leaves are deeply divided, almost strap-like, with margins that are unevenly-toothed and crinkled. A small, compact, upright, dwarf shrub. Autumn colour is typically red. Found as a chance seedling by John Gibbons of Hippopottering Nursery.

The word ‘kaba’ means “hippopotamus” - a play on the nursery name.
